ESG Safe Sunscreen: Suntegrity Leads the Way

ESG Safe Sunscreen Rooted in Purpose

ESG safe sunscreen is more than a label for Suntegrity—it’s the foundation of the brand’s mission. In 2010, Tricia Trimble created the company after losing her mother to melanoma skin cancer. She wanted sun care that protects people without exposing them to harmful chemicals.

Many sunscreens available at the time used UV filters like Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, and Avobenzone. Research linked these ingredients to potential endocrine disruption. Tricia found it illogical to use sunscreens that could prevent skin cancer while introducing new health concerns. Still, she knew sunscreen was essential.

Instead of compromising, she conducted several years of research. Working closely with a skilled formulator and chemist, she developed her own line. That’s how Suntegrity Skincare was born—with a commitment to clean, effective, and responsible sun protection.

Clean Ingredients, Recognised Standards

Suntegrity uses non-nano zinc oxide as the sole active ingredient in its Face and Body SPF 30 products. This mineral filter offers broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection. To enhance skin repair, the brand adds antioxidants and amino acids to the formulas.

These products have earned strong endorsements. The company holds “Champion” Status from the EWG/Compact for Safe Cosmetics. Its products often appear on the Environmental Working Group’s lists of “Best Recreational” and “Best Daily-Use” sunscreens. Suntegrity also receives high marks from SkinSafe and The Good Face Project.

Most products are vegan and approved by Oncology Spa Solutions for use on sensitive skin. Additionally, all items are cruelty-free, with certifications from both PETA and Leaping Bunny.

Packaging That Reflects ESG Safe Sunscreen Values

Suntegrity doesn’t stop at clean formulas. Its packaging choices also reflect deep environmental responsibility. The company has made steady progress in replacing traditional plastic with greener alternatives.

For instance, the 3 oz and 5 oz body sunscreens—as well as self-tanners—now use recyclable, bio-based polyethylene (LDPE) made from sugarcane. These tubes are a step forward in reducing fossil fuel-derived plastic waste.

The 5-in-1 Tinted Sunscreen and Impeccable Skin tubes also use recyclable LDPE. Suntegrity plans to transition both to 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) material, as soon as manufacturing capabilities allow it.

The Face Sunscreen/Primer combines a reusable AS outer shell with a recyclable polypropylene (PP) refill cartridge. The company is already working with suppliers to produce the refill in 50% PCR in the near future.

Sport sunscreen lotion tubes currently use recyclable HDPE. Once the existing stock runs out, Suntegrity will switch to green bio-based LDPE for these as well.

Sun Sticks and Refills Support ESG Safe Sunscreen Goals

Suntegrity’s sun sticks also reflect innovation. The original 46 g version used recyclable PP. Smaller 22 g sticks used a combination of PP and PET. In June 2022, the company introduced a 33 g Sport Sun Stick in packaging made from 50% PCR.

Suntegrity strives to avoid unnecessary waste. That’s why the brand limits secondary packaging to a few specific items—pressed mineral powders, lip gloss, and primer refills. These products require extra space to list mandatory information.

This focused approach keeps the majority of Suntegrity’s line free from excessive packaging, aligning with its ESG principles.

Responsible Shipping Practices

The company extends its values to shipping and logistics. All orders are packed using biodegradable loose-fill materials and recyclable cardboard boxes. When possible, Suntegrity reuses packing materials received from suppliers.

This practice helps reduce landfill waste and lowers the overall carbon footprint. It’s another way the company integrates ESG goals into daily operations—without compromising on quality or customer experience.

The Personal Legacy Behind the Brand

Every choice at Suntegrity connects back to its founding story. Suntegrity Skincare was made in memory of Tricia’s mom and all of those who lost their lives to skin cancer. Using her mom’s experience as a positive catalyst for change, she created a mineral sun care line.

This emotional foundation fuels the brand’s commitment to health, safety, and sustainability. Today, Suntegrity continues to lead by example—showing how an ESG safe sunscreen brand can combine scientific integrity, ethical leadership, and real impact.
