JA Solar Unveils Utility Scale Battery System At Intersolar 2026

JA Solar is redefining how the solar industry approaches energy storage with its comprehensive portfolio of integrated solutions. The global photovoltaic manufacturer will showcase its latest utility-scale battery system, JAGalaxy, alongside proven commercial energy storage technology at Intersolar Europe 2026. This demonstration marks a significant milestone in the company’s evolution from module manufacturer to provider of complete energy ecosystems, with over 330GW of cumulative shipments by Q1 2026.

Utility Scale Energy Storage Innovation

Making its debut at the Munich exhibition, JAGalaxy represents JA Solar’s entry into utility-scale energy storage with a system designed to deliver over 5 MWh of capacity and 93% round-trip efficiency. The platform targets grid-connected renewable energy projects where stable integration and improved grid balancing are essential for large-scale deployment.

The system incorporates comprehensive safety architecture with multi-stage protection featuring millisecond-level response capabilities. Real-time monitoring combines with a three-tier fire detection and suppression system to address critical safety requirements for utility installations. Its modular design enhances operational reliability whilst simplifying maintenance protocols for long-term performance.

Commercial Storage Solutions Expanding Across Europe

JAPlanet, the company’s commercial and industrial battery system launched in December 2025, will also feature prominently at the exhibition. The 261kWh lithium iron phosphate system has already achieved successful deployments across Italy, Germany, the Netherlands and Lithuania, demonstrating proven market adoption.

The system delivers up to 88% AC-side round-trip efficiency through its integrated 125kW Power Conversion System within a compact, modular architecture. Advanced liquid cooling maintains cell temperatures within ±1.5°C to optimise performance and extend battery life whilst reducing auxiliary consumption. Scalability up to 20 units provides 5.2MWh capacity for diverse commercial applications.

Alastair Mounsey, Head of Europe at JA Solar, said:

“The next phase of solar is not defined by modules alone, but by integrated energy ecosystems. JA Solar is accelerating that transition by combining leading solar module technology with advanced storage platforms, from the commercially proven JAPlanet system to the upcoming JAGalaxy utility-scale solution. Together, these technologies are designed to redefine how solar assets deliver greater flexibility, resilience and grid value.”

Advanced TOPCon Module Technology

Alongside energy storage innovations, JA Solar will display modules from its DeepBlue 5.0 and DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series, representing fifth-generation TOPCon technology platforms. The DeepBlue 5.0 range features high-efficiency, double-glass bifacial modules engineered for strong performance in low-light conditions and harsh environments with reduced long-term degradation.

The JAM48D50/LR range delivers up to 670W with efficiency reaching 24.8%, designed for both residential and commercial installations. The DeepBlue 4.0 Pro series offers n-type double-glass modules with up to 22% efficiency, supported by 30-year power warranties and 0.3% annual degradation rates across residential, commercial and utility applications.

Integrated Energy Ecosystem Approach

This comprehensive technology showcase demonstrates JA Solar’s strategic transition from photovoltaic module manufacturing to complete energy solution provision. The integration of proven solar technology with advanced storage platforms addresses growing market demand for flexible, resilient energy assets that deliver enhanced grid value.

With manufacturing bases and 16 sales subsidiaries worldwide, the company serves 180 countries and regions across ground-mounted power plants, commercial rooftop systems and residential installations. Recognition on the Fortune China 500 and among Global Top 500 New Energy Enterprises reflects sustained leadership in the renewable energy sector as the industry advances toward comprehensive energy ecosystems.
