A Vietnamese hospitality group known for its beachfront resorts has turned its attention to the greenery beyond its own gates. The Anam Foundation, the charitable arm of The Anam Group, has launched a long-term initiative committing one billion VND annually to plant trees in communities across Vietnam. Named “Anam Green Life”, the programme will target schools, public spaces and neighbourhoods that currently lack greenery, working alongside local authorities to get trees into the ground where they will do the most good. The first projects will roll out around The Anam Cam Ranh and The Anam Mui Ne before extending to other parts of the country.
A Different Approach To Tree Planting
Rather than chasing carbon offset totals, the initiative is built around social impact, aiming to improve daily life for the people who live, work and study near the sites selected. That distinction sets Anam Green Life apart from many large-scale reforestation schemes, which tend to prioritise volume and carbon accounting over the direct experience of nearby residents.
The Anam Foundation was established by The Anam Group founder and chairman Mr Pham Van Hien, and the tree planting commitment extends a philosophy that has shaped the group’s resorts since they were built.
Mr Pham Van Hien, Founder and Chairman of The Anam Group, said:
“Nature has always been at the heart of The Anam.”
“Our resorts are defined by lush tropical gardens because we believe greenery contributes to beauty and wellbeing. Through this initiative we want to extend that philosophy beyond our resorts and into the communities around us.”

Choosing Sites With Purpose
The Foundation has been clear that placement will be deliberate rather than opportunistic, with trees positioned to deliver tangible everyday benefits such as shade, cooler public spaces and healthier neighbourhoods.
Mr Pham Van Hien, Founder and Chairman of The Anam Group, said:
“We won’t be simply planting trees wherever space is available. We want to, rather, plant them where they will genuinely improve people’s daily lives; whether that’s providing shade for children in a school playground, creating cooler public spaces or helping make neighbourhoods healthier and more attractive.”

Part Of A Wider Track Record
Anam Green Life follows a string of recent community projects from the Foundation, including last month’s completion and donation of two new homes for disadvantaged families in Cam Lam, near The Anam Cam Ranh. The first went to Mrs Truong Thi Loi of Lap Dinh Village, who had spent years living alone in a deteriorating house exposed to heavy rain, strong winds and flooding; the Foundation contributed VND 90 million to renovate the property into a safer, more spacious home. The second, backed by a VND 150 million contribution, provided a new house for Mr Nguyen Thanh Nhan, a technical employee at The Anam Cam Ranh raising four young children alone following the death of his wife, whose family had previously lived in a cramped and deteriorating home.
Mr Pham Van Hien, Founder and Chairman of The Anam Group, said:
“Whether we’re helping a family have a safe place to call home or planting trees that will provide lasting benefits for entire communities, our goal is the same – to create impactful change. These initiatives are driven by our vision of supporting people and their communities as well as caring for the environment.”

Building On Existing Sustainability Efforts
The tree planting commitment sits alongside a broader set of environmental practices already running across The Anam Group’s properties, including extensive tropical landscaping, rainwater collection systems, reduced reliance on single-use plastics and solar power designed to lessen the resorts’ environmental footprint. The Anam Group contributes a percentage of its annual profits to The Anam Foundation, which funds community development, environmental initiatives, disaster relief, staff welfare and other charitable programmes on an ongoing basis.
Taken together, the housing donations and the new annual tree planting pledge point to a foundation building steadily on its own terms, choosing projects for their direct benefit to the people living closest to its resorts rather than for scale or headline figures alone.
