Air Business sets out sustainability plans in latest report

Distribution and subscription management service Air Business has released its inaugural report, detailing its greenhouse gas emission and energy use figures.

The report, entitled ‘Air Business Group: Our Carbon Footprint & Sustainability’ offers an outline of Air Business’s current activity, as well as the company’s goals with regards to becoming more sustainable and reducing its carbon footprint.

The report shows that Air Business’s gross emissions in 2020 came to 379.93 tonnes of CO2e, based on the combustion of gas, transportation fuel, business travel, and electricity.

Collection of 2021 data is underway.

Established in 1986, Air Business is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Irish Post Office. The company acquired global subscription management bureau Quadrant Subscription Services in 2011, and serves businesses across sectors including publishing, memberships, associations and e-commerce.

Commenting on the launch of the report, Adam Sherman, CEO of Air Business, said: “In 2014, Air Business achieved ISO 14001 certification for environmental management and launched its Environmental Policy, so we’ve focused on sustainability for several years.

“Publishing our carbon footprint and sustainability plans takes our commitment to another level and highlights how determined we are to do the right thing.”

As part of its sustainability plans, Air Business is partnering with a carbonologist in the hopes of making its data more comprehensive.

“According to a recent survey, nearly 60% of young people approached across 10 countries said they felt very worried or extremely worried about climate change,” said Clare Wheeler, Chief People and Sustainability Officer at Air Business.

She continued: “With ongoing discussions at COP26 highlighting the importance of taking action now, we recognise we all have a part to play. This report, and the actions we’re taking, will help.”
