Green GSM has officially launched an all-electric taxi service across Northern Mindanao in the Philippines, extending its electric mobility network to El Salvador, CDO, Laguindingan, Alubijid and Opol. The service uses a 100% electric fleet of VinFast vehicles and follows a trial that began in late August. Customers can book journeys through the Green GSM app, customer service hotline or by hailing an available taxi on the street. New users registering for the service will receive 15 Green Points, equivalent to 15 peso, to use against ride discounts.

Electric Mobility Expands Regionally

The Northern Mindanao launch brings an additional zero-emission transport option to a region where journeys can range from daily local trips to intercity travel and airport transfers. Green GSM positions the rollout as its first all-electric taxi service in the region, with an operating network intended to support travel between its newly served locations.

The company’s move builds on earlier electric taxi launches in Metro Manila, Central Visayas and Mindanao. Its expansion into Northern Mindanao follows what Green GSM describes as positive results from the local trial period, and gives passengers access to a service designed around app-based booking alongside conventional street hailing.

For communities served by the network, the model combines the practicality of taxi transport with electric vehicle operation. This can help limit tailpipe emissions and reduce vehicle noise during everyday urban and regional journeys, while widening the availability of electric mobility beyond the Philippines’ largest metropolitan areas.

A Fully Electric Taxi Fleet

Green GSM’s service is powered entirely by VinFast electric vehicles. The company says passengers can expect quiet operation, smooth journeys and comfortable cabins, including on longer routes such as airport transfers and trips between cities.

The fleet approach gives the company a clear environmental proposition: each journey is presented as a lower-emission choice compared with conventional combustion-engine taxi travel. Green GSM also links its operating model to its “5 Green Promises”: Good Cars, Good Drivers, Good Prices, Good Experiences and Good for the Environment.

That combination places vehicle quality, customer experience and environmental performance within the same service offer. In a transport market where reliability and price remain decisive for passengers, the company is seeking to make electric taxis a practical day-to-day option rather than a specialist alternative.

Transparent Fares And Driver Training

Alongside the electric fleet, Green GSM is placing emphasis on transparent pricing and service standards. Fares are displayed through the app or the official in-car meter, enabling passengers to see the cost of a journey before travelling. The feature is particularly relevant for longer intercity routes and airport transfers, where advance visibility of fare information can help customers plan their travel.

Drivers are trained in driving skills, professional conduct and road safety. Green GSM expects the new service to create employment opportunities for service drivers as the operating network develops, while offering residents another mobility choice with costs positioned below those of other ride-hailing companies.

The launch promotion offers a direct incentive for first-time users. New registrants receive 15 Green Points, equivalent to 15 peso, which can be redeemed for discounts on Green GSM journeys.

Building Local Transport Connections

The Northern Mindanao network is intended to strengthen connectivity between key locations in the region. Its coverage of El Salvador, CDO, Laguindingan, Alubijid and Opol creates a transport option for routine travel as well as journeys that cross municipal boundaries.

Electric taxi services can contribute to transport decarbonisation when they displace petrol or diesel-powered vehicle kilometres, particularly where vehicles complete repeated journeys throughout the day. Green GSM’s regional rollout also puts the visibility of electric vehicles into the ordinary taxi market, where passengers can experience their quieter operation and zero tailpipe emissions directly.

Mr. Pham Nhat Minh Hoang, Global CEO of Green SM, said:

“Expanding into Northern Mindanao enables Green GSM to increase our service coverage in a region with strong potential, while giving more residents access to electric mobility with consistent service quality and reasonable costs. We will continue to develop our network and work with local partners to build a scalable electric transportation model that can create long-term value for the Philippines.”

A Wider Green Transition

Green GSM’s latest launch signals continued investment in electric passenger transport in the Philippines. By combining fleet electrification with a booking and street-hail service, the company is working to make lower-emission journeys available across a broader range of travel needs and locations.

The Northern Mindanao service gives the company a further platform for its stated focus on sustainable development and people-centred mobility. As its network grows, its performance will rest on delivering the practical fundamentals passengers expect: safe vehicles, trained drivers, clear fares and dependable coverage, while maintaining the environmental benefits of an all-electric fleet.
