Lemmo Launches Longtail SUV E Bike

Lemmo has introduced Lemmo 3, a longtail SUV e-bike developed to combine cargo capacity, passenger comfort and connected riding technology. The Berlin-based light-mobility company has designed the model around a 200kg gross weight limit, a 700mm modular rear platform and a 960Wh semi-solid-state battery. Lemmo 3 also brings together 4D suspension, rear radar, combined braking and automatic shifting in one longtail platform. The company plans to launch the bike through a Kickstarter campaign, with special launch pricing and further information to be made available through its website and Kickstarter page.

Comfort For Daily Journeys

Lemmo 3 has been developed from the company’s experience with Lemmo One and Lemmo Zero, as well as rider feedback gathered through years of design work. Originally developed in 2023 under the internal project name APV, for All Purpose Vehicle, the bike is intended to work across weekday urban journeys and weekend outings.

The model’s 4D Suspension system combines an 80mm longtail rear suspension, an 80mm hydraulic front suspension fork, a quick-adjust suspension seatpost with an additional 20mm of comfort, and high-volume all-terrain tyres. The tyres offer 40% more air volume, while the rear suspension incorporates a high-load spring within the bike’s decoupled frame architecture.

This focus on ride quality is particularly relevant for longtail bikes used to carry children, passengers or substantial loads. Rather than treating cargo capacity as the sole priority, Lemmo has made comfort an integral part of the vehicle’s proposition for both rider and passengers.

Lemmo stated:

“The project began with a simple ambition: to create a longtail that would be more comfortable, easier to maneuver, smarter and safer, while offering the flexibility to move seamlessly from weekday streets to weekend adventures.”

Stable Longtail Design

The bike uses conventional bicycle-style steering, distinguishing it from front-loading cargo models with indirect steering. Lemmo says the configuration supports familiar handling while retaining the utility expected of a longtail design.

A 24-inch front wheel and 20-inch rear wheel pairing aims to bring together improved roll-over capability at the front with a lower centre of gravity at the rear. The company has retained a similar overall length to downhill mountain bikes while extending the wheelbase for stability. Its high-rigidity aluminium frame distributes loads across the structure, with quick-adjust components and an upright riding position intended to suit different riders.

The result is a practical design direction for households and riders who need a bike that can accommodate changing journeys without becoming difficult to manage in everyday settings. It reflects an effort to make the longtail format more accessible for people balancing transport, carrying and leisure use.

Carrying Capacity And Modularity

Lemmo 3 supports up to 200kg, or 441lb, gross weight and features a 700mm modular rear platform compatible with MIK HD. Alongside a front rack and a growing range of accessories, the platform is designed for school runs, grocery shopping, cargo transport, pets and equipment for weekend trips.

That modularity is central to the bike’s appeal. Cargo bikes are increasingly expected to accommodate varied routines, and the Lemmo 3 has been designed to allow owners to tailor the rear platform to their own transport needs rather than commit to a single fixed configuration.

Lemmo stated:

“Lemmo 3 is designed around the idea that a cargo bike should adapt to the rider’s life rather than the other way around.”

Safety And Smart Controls

Lemmo has equipped the Lemmo 3 with high and low beams, automatic brake lights and turn signals to support visibility in changing traffic and weather conditions. A rear radar system monitors approaching traffic and can detect fast-moving vehicles behind the bike, delivering alerts through the display.

The e-bike’s Combined Braking System means that activating either brake lever engages both hydraulic brakes, which is intended to support shorter and more stable stops. Security features include a seven-layer anti-theft system with embedded locks, GPS tracking and additional security functions.

A 3.5-inch touchscreen is designed to remain visible in sunlight and while riding. Physical controls are intended to provide direct access to key functions without requiring riders to divert their attention from the road. The electronic derailleur uses AI-powered automatic shifting to select an appropriate gear without constant manual adjustment.

Lemmo has also partnered with smart-helmet specialist Ryvfit on a family helmet system with voiceprint-based intercom technology. Planned as a separate accessory, the system is intended to enable hands-free communication between riders and passengers.

Built Beyond The City

Lemmo 3 is positioned as a longtail capable of operating beyond short urban trips. Its 960Wh semi-solid-state battery is designed to provide more power, longer life and greater safety, while also functioning as a portable power source for compatible equipment. A rear hub motor delivers up to 90Nm of torque for steep climbs and heavier loads.

For flatter terrain, the bike can be equipped with an optional three-speed internal-gear automatic-shifting motor paired with a belt drive. The company has also selected components from established global brands, with an emphasis on quality and reliability.

Lemmo stated:

“The result is a bike designed for families, daily transportation, heavy loads and weekend exploration — without requiring riders to choose between practicality and freedom.”

By combining cargo-bike utility with suspension, safety systems and configurable equipment, Lemmo 3 presents a thoughtful option for riders seeking to replace more car journeys with a capable electric bike. Its forthcoming Kickstarter launch will provide the first opportunity for customers to access the new longtail model.
