Teledyne FLIR has launched the Si2a-LD and Si2a-Pro fixed acoustic imaging cameras, completing its Si2a-Series portfolio for continuous condition monitoring in industrial and utility environments. Available from 22 September 2026, the two systems are designed to provide always-on visibility of critical asset health rather than relying solely on periodic inspections. The Si2a-LD focuses on compressed air and gas leak detection, while the Si2a-Pro combines continuous leak detection with partial discharge monitoring. Integrated with the FLIR AssetLink ecosystem, the cameras are intended to help maintenance teams identify emerging issues sooner, reduce manual inspection activity and make more informed maintenance decisions.

Continuous Monitoring For Industrial Assets

For industrial operators, compressed air and gas leaks can be a persistent source of energy loss and unnecessary operating cost. Intermittent equipment faults can be equally difficult to address, particularly when they emerge between scheduled inspection rounds. Fixed acoustic imaging offers a practical route to more frequent visibility, placing monitoring capability directly at critical systems for unattended operation.

The Si2a-Series is designed for permanent deployment across industrial and utility environments. Its low-maintenance, scalable architecture supports monitoring across multiple sites, while configurable monitoring zones and alarms allow teams to tailor surveillance to particular assets and operating conditions. By capturing acoustic events as they occur, the systems aim to give maintenance professionals earlier evidence on which to prioritise intervention.

Darrell Taylor, Business Director for Acoustics at Teledyne FLIR, said:

“Many facilities in the industrial and utility sector continue to rely on periodic inspections to identify leaks and developing equipment issues,”

Two Applications In One Portfolio

The Si2a-LD has been purpose-built to continuously monitor compressed air and gas leaks. This places a direct focus on areas where unnoticed leakage can contribute to energy waste, while helping organisations act before losses become embedded in day-to-day operations. For sites with extensive compressed air infrastructure, a fixed-mount approach can complement manual checks by extending monitoring beyond an inspection schedule.

The Si2a-Pro broadens the range’s scope by adding partial discharge monitoring to continuous leak detection. Partial discharge can indicate developing electrical equipment issues, and combining the two functions in one fixed-mount solution gives operators a broader view of condition at monitored locations. The product positioning reflects a useful connection between operational reliability and resource efficiency, especially where critical infrastructure demands rapid visibility of abnormal events.

“The Si2a-Series fixed-mount acoustic cameras provide continuous visibility into asset performance, helping organizations detect issues earlier, improve operational efficiency, and prioritize maintenance activities before problems escalate.”

AI Enhanced Detection And Alarms

Both new cameras incorporate AI-enhanced detection and classification to support faster assessment of detected events. The approach is intended to help teams distinguish issues requiring attention and make more confident decisions from the data collected through continuous acoustic monitoring.

Alerts and configurable monitoring zones support unattended operation, while the systems’ connection to AssetLink and enterprise systems enables centralised workflows. This can be valuable for organisations overseeing dispersed infrastructure, allowing monitoring information to be brought into established maintenance processes rather than held in isolation at the asset level.

Rather than replacing field expertise, the technology is positioned as a way of concentrating inspection effort where it is most needed. Continuous sensing can identify an event between rounds, giving teams the opportunity to investigate with clearer context and allocate resources according to asset condition.

A Broader Condition Monitoring Toolkit

The Si2a-LD and Si2a-Pro sit within FLIR’s wider condition monitoring portfolio. They can be used alongside handheld acoustic imaging cameras, handheld thermal cameras and fixed thermal monitoring solutions, creating several options for organisations that need to assess asset health across critical infrastructure and industrial operations.

This combination is particularly relevant to proactive maintenance programmes that seek to reduce reactive work and avoid avoidable energy losses. Fixed acoustic monitoring can provide persistent coverage for selected high-priority systems, while handheld technologies can support targeted investigation and wider inspections across a site.

The release completes the new Si2a-Series portfolio and gives industrial and utility teams two distinct fixed-mount options: one focused on leak detection, and one that adds partial discharge monitoring. With availability scheduled for September 2026, the range offers a measured addition to maintenance programmes seeking earlier awareness of asset issues, stronger reliability and reduced manual inspection effort.
