Epson has announced three new series in its EcoTank printer range, introducing seven new models aimed at busy households and small office users. The printers have been available since September 2025 and represent what the company describes as its most significant redesign of the EcoTank line to date.
The new models focus on improving productivity, usability and cost efficiency, while maintaining the refillable ink tank system that defines the EcoTank brand. Epson states that users can save up to 95% on printing costs compared to traditional cartridge printers.
The new EcoTank line-up
The launch includes the ET-2950 Series, comprising the ET-2950, ET-2951 and ET-2956 models, which replace the ET-2850 series. These printers are designed for home users seeking ultra-low-cost printing with features such as automatic double-sided printing.
For home offices and small businesses, Epson is introducing the ET-3950 Series, including the ET-3950 and ET-3956, replacing the ET-3850, and the ET-4950 Series, including the ET-4950 and ET-4956, replacing the ET-4850 and ET-4856. These models are intended for users requiring faster print speeds and higher paper capacities.
All models feature a redesigned exterior and updated specifications aimed at simplifying operation. Enhancements across the range include faster print speeds, higher page yields, double-sided printing, scanning and copying, as well as upgraded connectivity options.
Cost and resource efficiency
Cost reduction remains central to the EcoTank proposition. According to Epson, one set of ink bottles supplied with the printers delivers the equivalent of 63 ink cartridges. Each model is packaged with up to three years of ink, enabling thousands of prints before refilling is required.
The ET-2950 Series can print up to 6,600 pages in black and 5,500 pages in colour with the included ink. For the ET-3950 and ET-4950 Series, black page yields increase to 15,100 pages with the additional black ink bottle provided. Replacement ink sets can print 8,500 black pages and 6,500 colour pages.
By reducing the frequency of ink replacement and the number of cartridges used, refillable ink tank systems are often positioned as a lower waste alternative to cartridge-based printing, particularly in high-volume home and office settings.
Performance and durability
Print speeds have also been increased across the new range. The ET-2950 Series offers mono print speeds of 15 pages per minute and colour speeds of 8 pages per minute. The ET-3950 and ET-4950 Series deliver mono speeds of 18 pages per minute and colour speeds of 9 pages per minute.
Durability figures have been extended, with the ET-2950 Series capable of printing up to 50,000 pages over its lifetime. The ET-3950 and ET-4950 Series are rated for up to 100,000 pages, targeting higher usage environments.
The ET-3950 and ET-4950 models also include 30-sheet duplex scan automatic document feeders, enabling automatic double-sided scanning and copying of multi-page documents.
User interface and connectivity
User interface updates are designed to make day-to-day operation more straightforward. The ET-2950 features a 3.7cm colour LCD screen, while the ET-3950 Series increases this to a 6.1cm display. The ET-4950 Series adds touchscreen functionality.
An auto-opening output tray has been introduced, allowing the printer to open and extend automatically when a print job is sent. Front-facing ink tanks with a flip-forward lid and gravity-fed key-lock bottle design aim to simplify refilling and reduce spillage.
Connectivity options include support for both 2.4GHz and 5GHz dual-band Wi-Fi, as well as compatibility with mesh networks. Epson says this provides more reliable wireless connections in homes and offices with multiple connected devices.
The Epson Smart Panel app enables printing from smartphones and tablets over Wi-Fi. Users can also use the app to set up the printer, check ink levels, carry out maintenance and order supplies.
Paper handling has been upgraded in the ET-3950 and ET-4950 Series, which feature a 250-sheet front-loading paper tray with a media window for monitoring paper levels. A semi-automatic print quality adjustment function has also been added to help users optimise output.
