Sweep has appointed Patrick de Cambourg, outgoing Chair of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board, as Senior Adviser, strengthening the company’s regulatory expertise as European sustainability reporting requirements expand. The appointment brings direct insight from one of the architects of Europe’s reporting framework into Sweep’s enterprise sustainability intelligence platform.
De Cambourg’s role comes as the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive moves into force for a growing number of European companies, with effects extending well beyond the EU. CSRD and the European Sustainability Reporting Standards are shaping how organisations collect, manage, and disclose non financial information, while influencing reporting approaches in other jurisdictions.
Sweep said the appointment reflects increasing demand from companies for clearer alignment between sustainability management systems and regulatory obligations. As reporting requirements become more detailed, organisations are seeking tools that support both compliance and internal decision making.
Patrick de Cambourg served from 2020 to 2025 as Chair of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board and led EFRAG task forces responsible for developing the European Sustainability Reporting Standards. His mandate included overseeing the first set of ESRS and contributing to work on simplified standards currently under review by the European Commission.
EFRAG plays a central role in advising the European Commission on financial and non financial reporting standards. The Sustainability Reporting Board was created to develop technical standards under CSRD, placing de Cambourg at the centre of Europe’s regulatory design process during a critical phase of implementation.

The company said regulatory insight is increasingly important as firms seek to avoid treating reporting as a stand alone exercise, instead linking it to broader management processes.
De Cambourg said his decision to join Sweep reflects a shared view on the role of data in corporate transition strategies. “Sweep excels at managing the depth and breadth of data needed to turn sustainability reporting into a strategic asset aligned with CSRD and ESRS goals,” he said. “What attracted me is Sweep’s vision: sustainability data should drive business decisions, not just tick compliance boxes. Before his work with EFRAG, de Cambourg spent seven years as President of France’s Autorité des normes comptables, the national accounting standards authority. That role included serving as a board member of the Autorité des marchés financiers and the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution, which oversee financial markets and prudential supervision in France.
His career spans more than four decades at the Mazars Group, now ForvisMazars, where he served as Senior Partner for 30 years and was later appointed Honorary President. He holds degrees in political sciences from Sciences Po Paris and in public and business law from Paris Panthéon Assas University, and is a certified chartered accountant in France.
Sweep said de Cambourg will act as a senior adviser on regulatory developments, helping inform product direction and supporting customers as CSRD implementation accelerates. The directive is being phased in over several years, beginning with large public interest entities and expanding to other large companies and listed SMEs.
While CSRD is an EU regulation, its influence is extending globally. Multinational companies with European operations are required to comply, and non European firms are increasingly aligning with ESRS to meet investor and supply chain expectations. Regulators in other regions are also watching the EU framework as they design their own disclosure rules.
Sweep was founded by Rachel Delacour, Yannick Chaze, and Raphael Gueller and is headquartered in Europe. The company counts L’Oréal, Orange, and Crocs among its customers and works with hundreds of global organisations on ESG reporting and data management.
The platform is B Corp certified and has been recognised by analysts including Verdantix and IDC for its work in sustainability data management. Sweep said the addition of de Cambourg reflects its focus on building tools that respond to regulatory reality rather than marketing narratives.
As CSRD reporting cycles begin for the first wave of companies, many are still refining their internal processes and data systems. Sweep said access to direct regulatory insight can help organisations interpret requirements more consistently and reduce uncertainty as standards continue to evolve.
The company said de Cambourg’s appointment underlines the growing convergence between regulation, corporate reporting, and internal management systems. With reporting obligations now closely linked to strategy, governance, and risk management, regulatory literacy is becoming a core capability for both companies and the software providers that support them.
