Reusable Packaging Revealed for Antalis Automation Parts

Antalis Packaging’s reusable pack design is said to reduce waste and increased efficiency in the distribution of car parts for an aluminium die casting company manufacturing automotive parts.

Utilising divider sets, layer pads, and a structural insert, Antalis Packing have created a reusable packaging design for automotive parts, packaged and shipped during the aluminium die casting process.

Owned by the Kokusai Pulp & Paper Group, Antalis Packaging is a Japanese distributor of papers, packaging, and visual communication media, headquartered in Paris, France. They are the largest business-to-business (B2B) distributor in Europe and Latin America, and across the globe, operate in 31 countries with 11,000 daily deliveries made. Until now, Antalis’ automotive client had only single-use bubble wrap at its disposal.

“The client was keen to have a packaging solution that would be efficient to use and that could be retained in a constant loop to minimise waste,” said Todd Smith, technologist at Antalis Packaging. “The key to the packaging design was finding a way to stabilise the parts in a way that meant they could also be stacked. After making a few samples on the CAD table at our Smart Packaging Centre, we came up with the solution that fulfilled all the needs. Our knowledge of packaging materials led us to propose Correx for its versatility, durability, and water resistance.”

Antalis claim the durable and reusable new packaging, which is resistant to damp, reduces waste and increases work efficiency as it can be used multiple times, taking the packing time for one pallet’s worth of automotive products down from 60 minutes to 10 minutes. Because there is less waste, the environmental impact of packaging in automotive production can be mitigated through innovative design.
