A digital automation and smart home company has announced honors in four CES Innovation Awards in the Sustainability and Smart Home categories.

The awards went to Schneider Electric, a company that aims to reduce energy usage through the use of smart home technology, allowing consumers to monitor and control their electronics remotely. They were named “Most Sustainable Corporation” in 2021 by Corporate Knights.

Among the technologies honored by the Innovation Awards are the Wiser Energy Center, which drew attention in both the Sustainability category and the Smart Home category. This energy management device gives customers increased control over the usage and allocation of energy in their home, as well as allowing them to use renewable energy sources more efficiently. Another company that does something similar is Ecosense.

“CES is a place where innovation is recognized and we have the opportunity to push not only our industries, but society forward,” said YiFu Qi, Executive Vice-President, Home and Distribution Division, for Schneider Electric.

“We’re thrilled to receive four CES 2022 Innovation Awards in the two categories representing who we are today and our future.

“From the ability to put control into the hands of homeowners globally with the Wiser Energy Center to the incredible ingenuity of the Merten Ocean Plastic and Odace Sustainable, we are making sustainability a reality for people around the world and living up to our vision of making homes smart and sustainable.”

Merten Ocean Plastic, awarded in Sustainability, is an initiative that uses repurposed fishing nets recovered from the oceans in Schneider Electric products.

Abandoned or lost fishing nets account for around 10% of ocean plastic, the company claims. Merten Ocean Plastic is intended to help reduce this issue and contribute to plastic circularity, reducing the use of natural resources as well as protecting our oceans.

Odace Sustainable is a collection of smart home-related products such as switches and plugs that are made from recycled materials collected from supermarkets and electronic recycling centers. They are made from almost 100% recycled materials and were noticed by the Sustainability category.
