Amcor has launched a partnership with Belgian youth charity TAJO to help young people from socially disadvantaged backgrounds explore careers in science, technology and innovation. As part of the collaboration, students will be invited to take part in annual innovation experience days at the Amcor Innovation Centre Europe in Ghent.
TAJO supports young people aged 10 to 18 by introducing them to real-world working environments across a range of industries. Through hands-on workshops and mentoring, the organisation aims to build confidence, broaden horizons and help participants make informed educational and career choices.
The partnership provides TAJO students with access to Amcor’s Innovation Centre Europe, where the company works with customers to develop new packaging solutions. The Ghent site builds on more than 100 years of packaging activity and serves as a hub for research, prototyping and collaboration with global brands.
In February 2026, 30 students attended the latest innovation experience day. The programme guided them through the packaging development process, from idea generation to prototyping in the centre’s laboratories and testing on an industrial packaging line. The day concluded with a session reflecting on how the experience could influence their future ambitions.
Claudia van Egmond, Managing Director, TAJO, said, “For over seven years, we have been working to give young people in Belgium better prospects and a brighter future. That means building resilience and offering experiences that inspire them to stay in education. Partnerships with global businesses like Amcor are central to that vision.”
Toon Coppejans, Senior Marketing Innovation Manager at Amcor Innovation Center Europe, said, “It’s a privilege to welcome these children into our Innovation Centre and show them what’s possible when curiosity, science and creativity come together. They shared several inspiring ideas, and moments like these remind us why opening our doors and supporting our local community matters.”
Amcor reaffirmed its support for the TAJO programme with a €10,000 donation in October 2025. The company has confirmed that the next innovation experience day is planned for 2027, continuing its engagement with the initiative.
