Founded 40 years ago in 1985, PSH Environmental Ltd is a pioneering force in sustainable waste management. Over the last four decades, the company has dedicated itself to setting industry benchmarks in landfill diversion, carbon-neutral operations, and energy innovation. Now, they have constructed an industry-leading first UNTHA electric shredder based entirely on solar energy.
This continues a trend for PSH operating one of the UK’s most environmentally advanced waste processing facilities, and remains a certified Carbon Neutral Organisation for another year. There is continued support for initiatives to reduce emissions and support environmental preservation. With zero landfill since 2019, the company has processed over 250,000 tonnes of waste annually and continues to power its entire site, including two UNTHA XR3000 electric shredders, with solar energy.
On the new advancements, Director Daniel Parker said, “Being the first in the world to operate a UNTHA electric shredder entirely on solar energy isn’t just a technological achievement, it’s a blueprint for how the waste industry can reduce emissions at scale. This anniversary is about more than looking back; it’s about where we lead the sector next.”
PSH Environmental stands out in the waste management industry owing to several key differentiators. The company operates as a carbon-neutral body, generating in excess of 386,000kW of energy annually through 798 on-site solar panels. They are the first in the world to run an UNTHA electric shredder entirely with solar power. Even more impressively, PSH Environmental has maintained a 100% diversion from landfill for six consecutive years, a testament to its pursuit of sustainable practices.
In recognition of this, PSH was awarded with accolades from the MRW National Recycling Award for Recycling Facility of the Year. They are also shortlisted for the NRA Social Value Award, the NRAs, and the One to Watch Award. The company is continuing to scale its impact with ongoing collaborations with waste management partners, public sector clients, and ESG-driven organisations, creating a more sustainable world.
Recognition of achievement helps put companies on the map.
