SAE International and the International Aviation Waste Management Association have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to work together on the development of standards for various aviation-related products and services.
The memorandum, signed between the mobility engineering company SAE (formerly the Society of Automotive Engineers) and the Aviation Waste Management Association, represents a commitment to collaborate on the establishment of best practices and operating standards for “products, processes, and services in global commercial and business aviation, airports and flight kitchens.”
David Alexander, Director of Aerospace Standards at SAE International, said, “The partnership between SAE International and the IAWMA provides a strong platform for collaboration between our organizations, bringing greater value to the broader aviation community.
“Sustainability is a foundational driver for SAE’s activities, and we look forward to advancing this agenda in many facets of the aviation journey with the IAWMA.”
The International Aviation Waste Management Association is a non-profit organization founded in 2019 to regulate, reduce and eventually eliminate entirely all solid waste produced by aviation and the aviation industry.

The two organisations will share research data, technological innovations, and best practices with the aim of improving the standards of the aviation industry at large through their cooperation.
