Finisterre has put forward its Nimbus Jacket as a candidate for Sustainable Business Magazine’s Feature Your Sustainable Products, citing its use of recycled and ocean-derived materials alongside lower-impact chemistry.

The jacket is constructed with a NetPlus® recycled polyamide shell made entirely from discarded fishing nets. By repurposing end-of-life nets, the material is designed to help reduce ocean plastic pollution while decreasing reliance on virgin fossil-based inputs.

Insulation is provided by REPREVE® recycled fibres sourced from ocean-bound waste. This approach supports circular material flows by reintroducing recovered plastics into high-performance apparel, extending their lifecycle through new applications.

The Nimbus Jacket also features a PFAS-free water-repellent finish. The absence of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances aligns with growing industry efforts to phase out persistent chemicals from textile treatments and reduce potential environmental and health impacts.

According to Finisterre, the combination of recycled inputs and safer chemistry demonstrates how responsible sourcing and design can be integrated into technical outerwear without compromising performance. The Nimbus Jacket is positioned as an example of how apparel brands are embedding circular principles into product development while addressing marine pollution and chemical use within supply chains.
