JA has expanded its European commercial and industrial battery energy storage portfolio with the launch of JAPlanet Fusion and JAPlanet 2.0. The two 261 kWh systems address distinct project configurations, pairing a DC-coupled hybrid solar and storage option with a latest-generation AC-coupled battery solution. JAPlanet Fusion combines 125 kW rated power, up to 250 kWp PV input and rapid backup capability, while JAPlanet 2.0 offers maximum round-trip efficiency of more than 90%. Available for pre-order in Europe from the second half of September 2026, the products are designed to give site owners more options for managing solar generation, grid limits and energy resilience.

Integrated Solar And Storage

JAPlanet Fusion brings together an inverter, battery storage and backup functionality within one coordinated system. For commercial and industrial installations, that integrated design can reduce the number of system interfaces and cabling requirements, while lowering the space needed for deployment. It also aims to reduce compatibility risks associated with separately sourced components, an important practical consideration for projects seeking a more streamlined design and commissioning process.

The system’s 261 kWh battery cabinet has a rated power of 125 kW. Its modular architecture can support up to 10 units in parallel for on-grid applications and up to six units in off-grid mode, allowing capacity to be configured around individual site requirements. The company is positioning the solution for new storage deployments as well as solar repowering schemes, where existing generating assets may benefit from additional PV capacity and storage without exceeding a site’s permitted AC grid power limit.

JAPlanet Fusion can accept PV input of up to 250 kWp across up to 20 strings and 10 MPP trackers. This gives asset owners the option to add solar capacity on the DC side while retaining the existing grid connection parameters. In projects where increasing export capacity can involve additional complexity and longer timescales, the approach could help maximise the value of installed infrastructure.

Ignacio Espinosa Gil, Head of the European Technical Team at JA, said:

“Across Europe, there is a growing opportunity to upgrade ageing solar assets with more powerful technology, but grid constraints can make increasing generation complicated and time-consuming. At the same time, businesses are looking for greater control over their energy use, as well as resilience against grid interruptions,”

Backup For Critical Loads

Resilience is a central feature of the JAPlanet Fusion proposition. Its integrated static transfer switch detects grid failure and transfers the system to off-grid operation within 10 milliseconds, supporting continuity for critical loads. For businesses balancing operational needs with onsite energy generation, this places backup functionality alongside solar and battery capacity rather than treating it as a separate system layer.

The product also incorporates liquid cooling, continuous temperature monitoring, smoke and gas monitoring, integrated aerosol fire suppression and dual-channel redundant ventilation. JA states that this ventilation arrangement complies with NFPA 69, while the system has been validated through UL 9540A testing at system level.

By bringing these functions together, the company is presenting Fusion as an option for organisations seeking to improve solar utilisation and onsite energy continuity through a single C&I platform. The offering is especially relevant to projects where space, installation complexity and connection constraints shape the feasibility of a storage upgrade.

Ignacio Espinosa Gil, Head of the European Technical Team at JA, shared:

“JAPlanet Fusion has been developed with this next generation of C&I projects in mind. By integrating solar, storage and rapid backup functionality into a single system, we can give our partners a more streamlined approach to system design and deployment, while enabling greater solar utilisation and resilience from existing site infrastructure.”

Updated AC Coupled Platform

Alongside the hybrid system, JAPlanet 2.0 updates JA’s established AC-coupled C&I battery energy storage platform for the European market. Like Fusion, it is a 261 kWh system, but it is designed around AC-coupled applications and provides a maximum round-trip efficiency of more than 90%.

JAPlanet 2.0 can operate without derating at ambient temperatures up to 50°C. Its intelligent thermal management system is reported to reduce auxiliary power consumption by 20% compared with conventional systems, supporting efficient operation across a broad range of environmental conditions. The product also combines cell-level monitoring with UL9540A certification for the full battery product.

The system includes JANebula, JA’s integrated energy management system for multi-use operation. The EMS supports time-of-use applications measured in kWh, peak-shaving in kW and increased PV self-consumption. JA states that the platform is in line with EU Regulations on product safety and security, positioning the product for a variety of operational priorities at commercial and industrial sites.

European Availability And Roadshow

JAPlanet Fusion and JAPlanet 2.0 will be available for pre-order in Europe from the second half of September 2026. The first JAPlanet Fusion deliveries are planned for the end of the fourth quarter of 2026, giving project partners a defined timetable for the new hybrid system.

Both products are also being presented through JA’s Journey Ahead 2026 customer roadshow, which runs until the end of October 2026. By offering both DC-coupled and AC-coupled storage routes, JA is broadening the choices available to C&I customers navigating solar repowering, onsite energy management and operational resilience.

The dual launch reflects a practical recognition that commercial storage projects are shaped by site-specific technical conditions. Whether the priority is expanding PV within an existing grid limit, reducing auxiliary consumption, supporting peak management or retaining critical loads through interruptions, the two JAPlanet systems provide differentiated options within one European portfolio.
