Ekko Aims for $1B in Climate Funding

Leading the Green Finance Revolution

Ekko, a sustainability-focused fintech platform, has announced its ambitious mission to channel $1 billion into environmental projects globally by partnering with financial institutions. This bold move follows a successful $2.5 million funding round and positions the company as a leader in sustainable finance.

Making Climate Action Easy

Ekko’s B2B solution allows banks, fintechs, and payment service providers (PSPs) to seamlessly integrate sustainability features into their services. The platform enables customers to monitor their carbon footprints, access sustainability insights, and support environmental initiatives—all through their everyday banking experiences.

“Our mission is simple: make sustainability an easy choice for everyone,” said Oli Cook, CEO and co-founder of Ekko. “By collaborating with banks and financial institutions, we can empower millions to make a difference by embedding education and impact within their daily banking habits.”

Consumer-Driven Sustainability

With growing demand for purpose-driven financial services, the timing for Ekko’s initiative couldn’t be better. A Mastercard survey found that 85% of consumers are willing to change their behaviors for a more sustainable world, while Mambu research revealed that 70% of global consumers would choose a bank that prioritizes purpose over profit.

By integrating Ekko’s platform, financial institutions can enhance customer engagement and loyalty while addressing environmental concerns. This dual benefit underscores the value of sustainability-driven business models.

Scaling Global Impact

Ekko’s partnerships with leading environmental organizations, such as Tusk and Prevented Ocean Plastic, exemplify its commitment to large-scale environmental restoration. These collaborations are aimed at reducing carbon emissions, conserving wildlife, and restoring ecosystems.

Cook added:

“Through these partnerships, we’re able to channel significant funds into projects making a vital difference to our planet.”

A Vision for the Future

To support its next growth phase, Ekko has refreshed its brand with a new visual identity and website. The company also strengthened its leadership team by appointing Anthony Thomson, founder of Atom Bank, to its board and hiring Majda Dabaghi as Chief Sustainability Officer.

With these strategic steps, Ekko is not only setting a new standard in sustainable finance but also proving that financial innovation can drive meaningful environmental impact. Its $1 billion mission serves as both a challenge and an inspiration for the finance sector to align profits with purpose.
