In Kenya, G4S is the market leader for courier services, with over 50 years of experience delivering all types of commodities, including medical supplies, electronics, exam papers and clothing to remote parts of the country.

On Tuesday 25 April (2023), G4S Kenya announced the company would be exclusively partnering with UPS (NYSE:UPS), one of the world’s largest companies and global leader in logistics for domestic courier and logistics services.
Laurence Okelo, Managing Director of G4S Kenya, said: “The demand for courier services in Kenya continues to grow, so a partnership with the global leader in logistics and Kenya’s leading courier service provider is the perfect match.
“Customers using G4S courier service will continue to receive the same excellent level of service they expect, but they’ll now find that some vehicles and couriers will be in the UPS branding, and some with G4S co-branding.”
Grégory Goba-Blé, Vice President, UPS ISMEA said: “At UPS, we’re using our smart global logistics network to help businesses in Kenya compete, diversify their revenue through trade, and build new customer relationships in a dynamic marketplace. Logistics plays an especially key role for small businesses seeking competitive advantages and we are excited to partner with G4S in Kenya to deliver what matters for our customers here.”
G4S Kenya’s 50 years of service:
G4S Kenya has spent the last five decades increasing its presence in the country and now distributes over 20,000 shipments of all shapes and sizes across the country.
These shipments are delivered thanks to a vast fleet network that comprises more than 400 courier vehicles and motorbikes and drivers who have an unrivalled knowledge of the country’s towns and terrains, and the security know-how to give customers peace of mind that their goods will be secure.

Working to improve sustainability:
Hilary Itela, G4S Kenya’s Director of Secure Logistics said: This partnership will allow UPS to tap into a logistical footprint that has been built up over many years to now cover 143 locations across all of the 47 counties in Kenya – saving money on investment and making the most of a sustainable supply chain.
“In order to make our courier services as sustainable as possible, we have already started to look at standardising the packaging material that shipments are placed into, and that it can be reused or recycled as much as possible.
Protecting each shipment:
Robust measures are in place to track each shipment. All items shipped go through G4S’s shipment tracking system, enabling the effective tracking of parcels, showing their status and movement.
A 24 hour backup and response service means that if a vehicle breaks down, an engineer can quickly be dispatched to fix the vehicle and allow the driver to carry on with their schedule. Vehicle monitoring is also used, meaning that drivers and shipments can be accurately located.
G4S Kenya has three strategically placed large warehouses totalling over 80,000 sq ft of space. Laurence Okelo added: “Our Courier Services team can store goods for customers and offer same or next day deliveries to one of our designated pickup points or the customer’s specific location. Kenyan businesses of all sizes will benefit from UPS’s smart global logistics network and G4S’s deep understanding of Kenya’s local market to help them grow their export and import activities with better reliability and a faster domestic delivery
service.”
