Healthy diets causes spreads market to reach $27bn

seed-based spreads make for a healthy diet swap

The market is predicted to grow to $49.8bn by 2031.

In a recent market analysis, Future Market Insights (FMI) has found that the global spreads market is anticipated to reach more than $27bn in 2021.

The market rise is said to be due to an increased consumer preference for natural and organic spreads because of the higher percentage of individuals wanting to improve their food habits and have a healthy diet.

The market is expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate of 6.3%.

Due to COVID-19, baking and cooking have become more popular, with consumers experimenting more with their meals and diets, helping to increase the growth rate of the market through online purchases – a trend that is expected to remain throughout the assessment period.

Furthermore, consumers continue to place more importance on having a balanced and healthy diet, resulting in a higher demand for organic spreads.

Manufactures are meeting this demand with more natural products such as honey, nut, and seed-based spreads as alternatives for healthy diets.

Because of the growing diversity of spreads, their commercial applications have increased, with chocolate- and nut-based spreads used in bakeries and confectionery, as well as other dishes to enhance flavour.

France’s spreads market is expected to total $550m in 2021, owing to growing demand for premiumization and high-quality confectionery products.
