SAFE To Launch SH Series At Ecomondo 2026

SAFE S.p.A. will introduce its new SH-Series gas compression platform at Ecomondo 2026, presenting the technology through virtual reality and 3D visualisation at Rimini Expo Centre from 3 to 6 November. The Italian manufacturer’s four-cylinder platform is designed for biomethane, biogas, gas recovery, CO₂ and hydrogen applications, with configurations intended to accommodate differing flow rates and high compression ratios. SAFE will exhibit in Hall D5, Booth 114-215, while also highlighting its support for the Himalayan Carbon Education Project 2026 in Nepal. The launch places compression flexibility, equipment efficiency and digital product exploration at the centre of the company’s Ecomondo presence.

A New Compression Platform

SAFE has developed the SH-Series to extend the operating range of its established compression portfolio and support a broader range of industrial and energy transition applications. Its four-cylinder architecture is intended to give project developers and operators more flexibility when matching compression capacity to site-specific requirements.

The platform is positioned across sectors where gas handling infrastructure can support lower-carbon energy systems and improved recovery of process gases. These include biomethane and biogas production, as well as CO₂ and hydrogen markets. SAFE’s focus on integrated solutions is particularly relevant where compression systems must be configured around the characteristics of a particular gas stream, pressure requirement and operating environment.

In certain applications, one SH unit may replace a configuration based on two SW-Series compressors. SAFE says this arrangement can help reduce capital expenditure, the physical footprint of equipment and the complexity of the overall system. Such considerations can be material for operators seeking to install gas-processing equipment in constrained industrial settings.

Applications Across Emerging Markets

The SH-Series has been designed for applications including carbon capture, utilisation and storage, flare gas recovery, boil-off gas recovery and industrial gas compression. It is also suited to applications that require compression from low suction pressures, extending its potential use across projects that need to recover, process or transport gases which might otherwise be difficult to manage.

Flare gas and boil-off gas recovery are among the applications where compression can assist operators in making use of gas streams that may otherwise be vented, flared or lost during storage and handling. In parallel, the platform’s inclusion in CCUS-oriented applications reflects the continuing need for specialised gas infrastructure as industrial decarbonisation projects develop.

SAFE has also designed the new platform to accommodate oil-free configurations, including options intended for hydrogen applications. This broadens the technology’s relevance for organisations assessing equipment choices for emerging hydrogen supply, distribution and refuelling systems, alongside established gas markets.

Shared Components And Service

A practical feature of the SH-Series is its use of components shared with SAFE’s established SW-Series. Commonality can streamline spare-parts management and maintenance activities for operators working with the company’s compressor technologies, while retaining scope for customised integrated systems.

That balance between standardised components and application-led configuration is central to the company’s product proposition. SAFE designs and manufactures gas compression systems and integrated solutions for the processing, distribution and refuelling of natural gas, biomethane and hydrogen, drawing on more than 50 years of experience in energy and industrial applications.

The company’s latest platform expands this portfolio without departing from the need for tailored infrastructure. For gas projects, equipment selection often depends on the characteristics of available feedstock, required delivery pressure, site layout and intended end use. A compression platform capable of supporting multiple configurations can provide a useful basis for adapting projects across these variables.

Digital Product Exploration

Visitors to SAFE’s stand at Ecomondo will be able to explore the SH-Series through a virtual reality and three-dimensional visualisation application. The experience will allow visitors to examine the platform’s architecture and main design features in a digital environment.

For industrial equipment suppliers, visual tools can offer a more accessible way to communicate complex machinery, especially where full-scale systems are not readily displayed at an exhibition. SAFE’s use of virtual reality and 3D visualisation is intended to make the new technology more intuitive and engaging for visitors at the Rimini event.

Ecomondo will host its 29th edition at Rimini Expo Centre, bringing together organisations working across environmental technology, resource management and the energy transition. SAFE’s exhibition combines a new equipment launch with a digital experience that places system design and application versatility in direct view for the event’s professional audience.

Environmental Responsibility In Nepal

Alongside the SH-Series launch, SAFE will highlight its support for the Himalayan Carbon Education Project 2026. The initiative has been developed with mountaineer Fabrizio Silvetti and representatives of the British Ghurka College in Kathmandu, Nepal, connecting an expedition to Cholatse with local environmental activity.

Two activities are planned through the project: the purchase of certified carbon credits in relation to emissions associated with the expedition, and the planting of 100 fruit trees in a park in Kathmandu. Through the involvement of a local educational institution, the programme also seeks to promote environmental awareness and community participation in protecting local surroundings.

The initiative complements SAFE’s technical work in gas compression with an environmental and social project rooted in a specific community. As the company prepares to present its latest platform to the energy and industrial market, its Ecomondo programme brings together equipment innovation, digital communication and a wider commitment to environmental responsibility.
