Easyfairs will give visitors to London Packaging Week their first hands-on experience of deltaH Innovations’ commercial Cool>Can™ at Excel London on 16 and 17 September 2026. Developed over two years, the shelf-ready beverage can uses a push-button-activated chemical reaction to cool room-temperature drinks by around 10 to 15°C, depending on their starting temperature. The technology is being presented in partnership with Brains Brewery, using Bayside Welsh Lager in a fully recyclable self-cooling can. For the packaging sector, the debut offers a notable live demonstration of a format intended to combine convenience with recyclability.
Commercial Can Debut
Cool>Can is designed to chill a beverage without an external refrigeration source. Its internal reaction uses water and a patented salt-based coolant, activated through a push button, while the can is intended to retain its recyclability.
The first commercial presentation marks a shift from prototype discussions to a branded product format. Visitors will be able to see and experience the can in the Discovery Theatre during London Packaging Week, where deltaH Innovations founder and CEO James Vyse will discuss its development.
James Vyse, founder and CEO at deltaH Innovations, said:
“London Packaging Week will be the first place to see a commercial Cool>Can. Up until now, we’ve been sending and discussing prototypes, but what we’ll actually be presenting is the first Cool>Can in a commercial partnership, with the brand actually on the can. It’s a huge leap from technical development and towards mainstream market adoption.”
Welsh Brewery Partnership
deltaH Innovations has partnered with Brains Brewery to bring Bayside Welsh Lager to market in the self-cooling format. The collaboration puts a recognisable Welsh beverage brand inside a commercialised demonstration of the technology, showing how the format could be applied to a branded product.
The partnership also connects the launch with Wales’ history in canned beer. Felinfoel Brewery in Llanelli produced Britain’s first canned beer in 1935, giving the new presentation a regional packaging heritage alongside its technical focus.

James Vyse, founder and CEO at deltaH Innovations, shared:
“We have had many conversations with brands, but this one felt right. I’m definitely a proud Welshman, teaming up with a Welsh brand and creating another piece of Welsh history, as I believe this is going to create something special in this business. London Packaging Week is a chance to get in on the ground floor as we scale up to take this to international markets.
My dream is to get on a plane and land anywhere and see a Cool>Can!”
Packaging Innovation On Stage
Vyse’s presentation, The self-cooling can: turning packaging innovation into reality, will take place at 12:00 on Thursday 17 September in the Discovery Theatre. The session will cover the engineering, regulatory and commercial story behind Cool>Can, placing the product’s debut in the wider context of bringing a new packaging format to market.
London Packaging Week provides a relevant setting for the demonstration, bringing packaging professionals together around materials, product presentation and technical development. The event’s free registration for industry professionals makes the session accessible to visitors assessing new ideas for beverage formats and consumer experience.
For brands, the proposition is centred on a can that can be stocked at room temperature and chilled by the consumer when required. The use of water and a salt-based coolant, alongside the stated aim of preserving recyclability, makes material recovery an important part of the product’s positioning rather than a separate consideration.
A Practical Market Test
The Bayside Welsh Lager launch represents a practical test of Cool>Can in a branded, shelf-ready setting. Rather than presenting a technical prototype alone, deltaH Innovations and Brains Brewery will use the event to show how the technology can sit within a commercial beverage offer.
As packaging businesses seek formats that balance product functionality with established recycling routes, the live debut will give attendees the opportunity to assess the self-cooling concept directly. The September presentation may prove an important milestone for a technology moving from development into its first commercial partnership.
