Two French airlines have become the first in the world to be fully certified by Green Pilot for their environmental programs.

Air Caraïbes and French Bee are the first airlines to be recognised by the new certification, a program designed to give airlines with substantial sustainability commitments a business boost.

“We are truly honored to be the first airlines to be certified,” said Marc Rochet, CEO of Air Caraïbes and President of French Bee.

“We always strive to meet higher standards in terms of green excellence. We are very proud of our achievements, but we are also pleased to benefit from the help of the program to identify further opportunities for improvement.”

Green Pilot was founded in 2020 as an international collective of aviation professionals, intended to help move the aviation industry towards more sustainable operating practices. The Green Pilot certification considers training, application of fuel-saving best practices, communication, and corporate social responsibility as well as other factors.

Once an airline is certified, Green Pilot helps them to stay abreast of environmental best practices as well as distributing educational material to help employees maintain them.

French Bee’s certification is part of the company’s broader strategy to conduct its operations in an environmentally responsible manner, and will help to drive forward further achievements in fuel savings across the company.
